Liebe Pipe Bands,

den Organisatoren der Pipe Band Competitions, die Jahr für Jahr so tolle Events organisieren, hat Covid-19 auch für 2021 einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht. Um dennoch eine Pipe Band Competition zu ermöglichen, planen wir darum die

1. BAG Online Pipe Band Competition.

Wir hoffen sehr, dass dank des Impffortschritts alle Bands wieder die Möglichkeit haben werden, regelmäßig Practises im Freien und mit ausreichend Sicherheitsabstand durchzuführen.Und wenn man vor Ort üben kann, dann kann man vor Ort auch an einer Competition teilnehmen.

Die Competition wird wie folgt funktionieren:

  1. Zeitpunkt der Competition, also Ausstrahlung der Beiträge und Siegerehrung ist der 31. Oktober 2021.
    Einsendeschluss für Eure Aufnahmen ist der 10.10.2021.
    Mit den Vorbereitungen und dem Üben könnt Ihr sofort oder sobald es Euch möglich ist beginnen.
    Die Namen der Judges werden noch bekannt gegeben.

  1. Ihr macht die Aufnahmen auf Eurer heimatlichen Wiese (die Location ist bitte in jedem Fall draußen, wenn möglich frei von Hall).
    Die Band spielt ohne Einmarsch im Halbkreis, die Aufteilung,welche Sektion wo im Halbkreis steht, bleibt Euch überlassen. Der PM darf mit dem Gesicht zum Halbkreis stehen.
    Ihr organisiert Euch ein Team von drei Kameraleuten unter Euren Freunden und Verwandten. Diese filmen Euren Competitionbeitrag parallel mit drei Geräten Eurer Wahl (Handys/Camcorder). Jede Section der Band (Pipes, Sides, Mid-Section) muss auf mindestens einer der Aufnahmen gut hör- und sichtbar sein, um diese gut bewerten zu können.

  2. Wie beim Solo Piping dürfen die Aufnahmen nicht geschnitten oder kombiniert werden. Natürlich habt Ihr beliebig viele Versuche für eine gute Aufnahme, aber alle drei Videos müssen aus derselben Performance sein. Ihr ladet dann alle drei Videos bei YouTube hoch.

  1. Die Bewertung erfolgt durch RSPBA zertifizierte Piping und Drumming Judges, die sich alle drei Videos aller teilnehmenden Bands anschauen. Zusätzlich bekommt die Mid-Section wie auch die beiden anderen Corps ein eigenes ausführliches Sheet. Gewertet wird wie üblich aber das komplette Drum Corps.

  1. Die Teilnahme ist bei dieser ersten Competition nur für Bands aus Kontinentaleuropa offen, da wir uns aus Kapazitätsgründen etwas zurückhalten müssen. Angeboten werden die Grade 5, 4 March und MSR sowie Grad3 Medley und MSR. Ansonsten gelten die üblichen Competition Regeln der BAG. Selbstverständlich wird es auch etwas zu gewinnen geben, näheres werden wir dann bekannt geben.

  2. Dress ist Band Uniform oder einheitliche, smarte Kleidung (zum Beispiel im Band Polohemd o.ä., falls Ihr so etwas habt).

Dear Pipe Bands,

the Corona virus is still with us. As in 2020, it has again made it impossible for our fantastic organisers of live Pipe Band Competitions to do what they would usually do, which is to welcome you at the venues across Germany. As an effort to make sure that 2021 doesn’t pass without at least a semblance of a Pipe Band Competition, the Bagpipe Association of Germany has decided to host it’s very first

BAG Online Pipe Band Competition.

We very much hope that as vaccinations progress all of you will again have the chance to practise outdoors as a pipe band. Thus thinking that should you be in a position to practise on your local meadow, then you may may as well participate in an online Pipe Band Competition from that very lawn.

The Competition will work as follows:

  1. Date of the Competition display on YouTube: 31stOctober 2021.
    Last date for uploading your videos is 10th October 2021.
    Of course you can start your preparations and practising right now.
    We will let you know the adjudicators names in due time.

  2. You should please use your local outdoor practise ground for your recordings. Ideally it should be on grass, please avoid any place with an echo.
    Your band should play without marching in, simply standing in a semi-circle. The Pipe Major may face the band. Where you position the various sections ofthe band is entirely your choice.
    Find three camara people amongst your friends and relatives. They should film your competition performance in parallel, using either mobile phones or camcorders. Each section ofthe band (Pipes, Sides, Mid-Section) should be clearly visible and audible on one of the three recordings.

  3. As in our Solo Piping Competitions, the recordings may not be editedand different performances may not be combined. It is your choice how many recording sessions you want to do, but all three recordings must be from one and the same performance. Once you are satisfied all three videos are to be uploaded to YouTube.

  4. Certified RSPBA adjudicators will look at all three videos for each band and all three sections will receive a sheet, although as usual the drum corps will be judged as one.

  5. In our 1st BAG Online Pipe Band Competition we are restricting the participation to Continental European Bands. We do this as a precaution as it is indeed the first time wehave such a competition and we are mindful of our limitations on capacity.

    Depending on your band grading you will be able to compete in Grades 5, 4 March and MSR as well as Grade 3 Medley and MSR. The usual BAG competition rules apply. We still need to think about what we will have as prizes, but rest assured that we will have something ready.

  6. Dress is Band Uniform or a matching smart-casual outfit (e.g. your band polo-shirts, should you have something like that).
